This website provides up-to-date information regarding my publications,
CV, contact details and work.
I have an established career in industry and Research and Development
as a senior software engineer and can turn my hand to most things. My
main tools of choice are C++ and Java on Linux. I enjoy tackling
difficult programming tasks. I also have post-doctoral experience in academia.
I have a BSc(HONS) in Computer Science, an MSc in Evolutionary & Adaptive systems,
and a PhD in biologically inspired Artificial Intelligence. I worked as a research fellow in the
Adaptive Systems Research Group
at the University of Hertfordshire as part of the
Humaine project.
I am experienced working with people from other fields.
I have worked as a research assistant for educationalists on the
InterLife
project at Stirling university, with astro-physicists for
ESO
on the Alma project, as well as with computational linguists and aeronautical engineers. I am
currently employed at the Roslin institute
working alongside biologists.
My own academic research has mainly focused on the functionality of
emotions by emulating and applying neuromodulation to artificial neural networks. This has led to
researching the dynamics of self-organising systems.
