When I first got into photography I brought a compact camera. Not only did this give me a chance to see whether I would enjoy photography as a hobby, but it also allowed me to concentrate solely on the most fundamental properties of a good photograph. The best camera in the world won't produce good pictures for you if you have not first developed the most important of skills.

Being small, compact cameras can be carried around with you wherever you go. This allows you to take a greater variety of good pictures immediately whenever they pop up, without having to wait for long periods of time for a certain idea to come together. It helps you become more aware of your surroundings as wherever you are, there may be a good picture just around the corner.

Cameras used were Samsung Finos 105S and for photos in or under water a Sealife Reefmaster SL511.

Except in a few cases, none of the photos have been cropped and although colours have been automatically digitally enhanced by the photo developers, no extra enhancements have been made except to despeckle them using Photoshop.
